Japanese city Tarumizu gets its first ever female politician
Misuzu Ikeda became the first female politician to be elected to the local assembly in the southern city of Tarumizu.
Ikeda finished third out of 17 candidates. Before the elections, she worked as a tax office employee. Misuzu Ikeda is the first ever female politician in Tarumizu since the very foundation of the city.
The newly elected assembly woman promised to work towards a society “where residents feel cared about”.
