Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIC) survey: 20 % difference between Americans’ and Ukrainians’ eagerness to vote for a female presidential candidate

From October 25 to November 8, 2018, Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIC) conducted the all-Ukrainian survey asking, inter alia, the following:
“If a party which you trust nominated a highly qualified female candidate to run for president would you vote for such a candidate?”
The survey demonstrated that 72% of respondents confirmed their eagerness to vote a female candidate. Yet, Ukrainians lag behind the U.S. respondents by 20%, with 92% of the latter willing to support a female nominee.
The Institute points out that there is a significant gap between female and male respondents. While 74% of women who participated in the survey would cast a vote for a highly qualified female candidate, only 69% of male respondents would do the same. 16% of men and 12% of women acknowledged that they would never support a female nominee in presidential elections.
